IAEA-Assisted Treatment of Liquid Radioactive Waste at the Saakadze Site in Georgia

چکیده
50 m3 of legacy liquid radioactive waste at the Saakadze site in Georgia was treated using a modular type facility with apparatuses encased three metallic 200 L drums as purification method sorption/ion exchange technology. The main contaminant water underground tank long-lived radionuclide 226Ra. casing processing equipment enabled an effective conditioning all secondary end treatment campaign which resulted fully purified stored on for further reuse or discharge, and cemented are currently safely stored.

Evaporation and Storage of Liquid Radioactive Waste
The liquid wastes produced during the processing of radioactive materials at the Savannah River Site were initially stored in large underground tanks constructed of carbon steel. These liquid wastes were generated from the Purex process (for producing plutonium) and the HM process (for producing tritium). The liquid wastes were designated as high-level wastes and lowlevel wastes. As the product...

15 صفحه اولThe application of magnetic gradiometry and electromagnetic induction at a former radioactive waste disposal site.
A former radioactive waste disposal site is surveyed with two non-intrusive geophysical techniques, including magnetic gradiometry and electromagnetic induction. Data were gathered over the site by towing the geophysical equipment mounted to a non-electrically conductive and non-magnetic fibre-glass cart. Magnetic gradiometry, which detects the location of ferromagnetic material, including iron...
